Sophia Gaponova, Legal Assistant

Sophia is a Legal Assistant at Nygaard family law, where she supports the firm’s attorney and clients in family law matters. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Legal Librarianship. Through her education and professional experience, she has developed a strong interest in legal research, communication, and the legal profession.
With a passion for law and a goal of becoming an attorney, Sophia enjoys gaining hands-on experience and developing her understanding of the legal process. In her role, she assists with case preparation, legal research, document organization, client communication, and other aspects of supporting clients throughout their legal matters.
As a Ukrainian American, Sophia has a personal connection to her Ukrainian heritage and an interest in supporting others. As part of her undergraduate capstone project, Sophia developed a Ukrainian refugee support program based in Germany. The project allowed her to combine her interests in international relations, research, and advocacy while exploring ways to support individuals navigating the challenges of displacement and resettlement.
Sophia also volunteers with Unbound Now, an anti-human trafficking organization based in Fort Worth. She speaks Russian and Spanish and values the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Outside of work and school, she enjoys reading and traveling.
